Why does my Support Portal organization not match my billing organization?

We are excited to introduce some improvements to how CircleCI associates support tickets to users and organizations that will enhance your experience and streamline the support process. As part of these changes, you may notice a modification to your Organisation in Zendesk Support.

What's changing?

Previously, your Organisation in Zendesk Support was set based on your billing details. However, to ensure consistency and improve our service, we're aligning this with the organisation information we have on record in the CircleCI platform.

This means that your Organisation in Zendesk Support will now reflect the name of your organisation as it appears in CircleCI.

What impact does this have?

This change is primarily administrative and should not affect your day-to-day use of CircleCI or Zendesk Support. However, when you interact with our Support Portal, you may notice that your Organisation name has changed to match the one we have on record in the CircleCI platform.

How to change your organisation name in CircleCI

If you wish to update your Organisation name in CircleCI, the process will depend on how you log in to your account.

For Email and Password login users

If you log in to CircleCI using your email and password, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your CircleCI account
  2. Navigate to the 'Organisation Settings' page
  3. Click on 'Change Organisation Name'
  4. Enter your new Organisation name and click 'Save'

Please note that any changes made here will be reflected in Zendesk Support as well.

For GitHub or BitBucket federated login users

If your CircleCI account is connected via VCS federated login (via GitHub or BitBucket), you will need to update your organisation name in your VCS. However, we typically do not encourage this as it may cause confusion outside of CircleCI in the VCS itself.
