If you use CircleCI Server (self-hosted), you may also receive an invitation to join a CircleCI Cloud organization. That Cloud account is used for support access and is separate from your Server UI login.
This article covers accepting the invite and creating a CircleCI Cloud account. If you already have a Cloud account with the invited email, jump to Already have an account? Log in. To open a support ticket after you are signed in, see Submit a support ticket from the Support Center (Server customers).
Before you start
You need the invitation email from CircleCI (sender: [email protected]).
Use the same work email address that was invited.
Have an authenticator app ready (required for new Cloud accounts; also used when logging in if MFA is enabled).
1. Open the invitation email
Open the email titled something like Invitation to join [your organization] and click Join Here.
2. Start signup
You will land on the CircleCI signup page. Click Sign up → to create a new account. If you already have a CircleCI Cloud account, click Log in instead and follow Already have an account? Log in.
3. Enter your work email
On Create a CircleCI account, enter the invited work email address, then click Continue.
4. Create a password
Set a password that meets the requirements shown on the page, then click Continue.
5. Check for the verification prompt
You may see a page asking you to verify your email. Check your inbox (and spam/junk folders) for a message from [email protected].
6. Verify your email and enroll MFA
Open the verification email and click Verify Email.
When you see Email Verified, click Back to CircleCI.
New CircleCI Cloud accounts require multi-factor authentication. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, enter the one-time code, then click Continue.
Next: open a support ticket from the Support Center. See Submit a support ticket from the Support Center (Server customers).
Invite teammates (org admins)
If you have sufficient privileges (for example, Org Admin), you can invite others to your Cloud organization after you are signed in.
1. Open Organization Settings
In the left sidebar, select Org (near the bottom). This opens Organization Settings. The Overview page is fine for confirming you are in the right organization.
2. Open the People tab
In Organization Settings, choose People. Members with sufficient privileges can invite others from this page.
3. Click Invite
Click Invite. The Invite people dialog opens with an email field and a role selector.
4. Enter email and role
Enter one or more email addresses (separated by spaces), choose a role (for example, Org Admin), then click Send Invite(s). Each invite uses the role you selected.
5. Confirm the invite is Pending
Open the PENDING tab on the People page. The invite stays there until the person accepts. They will receive an invitation email and complete the same signup or login flow described above.
FAQ
Will our old support tickets appear in the new portal?
Yes. About the last 18 months of ticket history is migrated into the new Support Center for your organization. Older tickets are not shown in the portal — keep past email threads for reference, or contact CircleCI Support if you need help locating an older case.
How do we add teammates so they can open tickets?
An Org Admin invites them from Organization Settings → People (see Invite teammates above). Each person gets an invitation email, then completes signup or login. After they join the Cloud organization, they can open tickets from the Support Center.
Can more than one person be an Org Admin?
Yes. You can invite multiple people as Org Admin. Keep at least one Org Admin in the organization. There is no small hard cap on admins for typical support use — organizations can include a large number of users (including additional admins).
What is the difference between Org Admin and Contributor?
Org Admin can manage organization settings and people (including inviting teammates and changing roles). Contributor can use the organization for day-to-day work but cannot manage org access or invite others. For support access, either role can use the Support Center after they join — choose Org Admin when you want that person to invite others. See Roles and permissions overview.
I was not on the original invite list. How do I get access?
Ask an Org Admin in your company to invite your work email from Organization Settings → People. CircleCI Support can also help if you do not know who your Org Admin is.
Troubleshooting
No invitation email: Check spam/junk. Ask your CircleCI contact to confirm the email address and resend the invite.
Already have an account: Use Log in with the invited email (see Already have an account? Log in).
Wrong organization: Sign out, open the invite link again, and confirm you accepted the correct invitation.
Need to open a ticket: Sign in at app.circleci.com, then follow Submit a support ticket from the Support Center (Server customers).
Already have an account? Log in
If you already have a CircleCI Cloud account with the invited email, choose Log in on the signup page instead of creating a new account.
On the login page, choose Log in with email (or your VCS provider if that is how your Cloud account was created).
Enter the invited work email address, then click Continue.
Enter your password, then click Continue.
If prompted, open your authenticator app, enter the one-time code, then click Continue.
After you are signed in, open a ticket from the Support Center. See Submit a support ticket from the Support Center (Server customers).
