If your org is restructuring, migrating repositories, or consolidating under a new version control setup, you may need to transfer your CircleCI plan from one org to another. This guide walks you through the process and outlines important details to consider.
When Should You Transfer a Plan?
Transferring your CircleCI plan is helpful in scenarios such as:
- Migrating repositories to a new GitHub or Bitbucket organization
- Company acquisitions or internal restructuring
- Consolidating teams or billing under a parent organization
Transferring a plan ensures that your paid features, credits, and billing follow you to the new organization, avoiding service disruption and supporting business continuity.
How to Transfer Your Plan
To transfer your CircleCI plan to a different organization:
- Log in to the CircleCI web app.
- In the sidebar, go to Plan.
- Click Share & Transfer.
- If you're on a paid plan (not Free), you'll see the Transfer Plan option.
- Select the target organization:
- It must be on the Free Plan.
- You must have admin access to both the source and target organizations.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the transfer.
Important Notes
- The original org will be downgraded to the Free Plan after the transfer.
- You must have admin privileges for both organizations involved. If you are unable to see the organization under the transfer, this indicates that you are not an admin of the other organization.
- All remaining credits and plan features (including billing) will move to the new organization.
