Resolving SSO Login Issues with CircleCI from IdP

Overview

Users attempting to log in to CircleCI through their IdP's menu may encounter errors due to current limitations in CircleCI's support for Identity Provider (IdP) initiated Single Sign-On (SSO). This guide explains the issue and provides a solution for successful login.

When trying to access SSO through an IdP initiated Single Sign-On, users will see the following error:

invalid_request: IdP-Initiated login is not enabled for connection <ID>

Prerequisites

  • Ensure your domain is verified with CircleCI.
  • Confirm that your SSO configuration is set up correctly in CircleCI.

Solution

CircleCI does not currently support logging in through an IdP due to security concerns.

To log in successfully, use the "Login with SSO" button available in the CircleCI user interface. This method ensures a secure and supported login process.
