Overview
Users may encounter situations where their avatars do not appear as expected in the CircleCI UI. This article provides insights into why this might occur and outlines steps to ensure avatars are displayed correctly, including checking project following status, Bitbucket workspace settings, and profile visibility.
Prerequisites
- You must have an account with CircleCI.
- Ensure you are following at least one project within your organization on CircleCI.
- Confirm that your Bitbucket workspace ID matches your Bitbucket username if applicable.
Instructions
To update your avatar in CircleCI, follow these steps:
- Verify that you are following projects in your CircleCI dashboard.
- If using Bitbucket, ensure your default workspace ID matches your Bitbucket username:
- Visit your "All workspaces" page on Bitbucket.
- Click on the workspace without the "Leave" option.
- Note the Workspace ID in the workspace "Settings" page.
- Adjust the workspace ID or your username to match if necessary.
- Check your Bitbucket profile visibility settings:
- Go to Atlassian Profile Settings.
- Ensure the "Who can see your profile photo?" setting is set to "Anyone".
Solution
If your avatar is not displaying after following the above steps, consider these additional actions:
- Refresh your user permissions in CircleCI.
- Clear your browser cache and cookies, or try accessing CircleCI in an incognito/private browsing window.
- Try accessing CircleCI from a different browser or device.
- Disable any browser extensions that might interfere with page display.
- Ensure your browser settings allow images to load.
- If using Gravatar, add your email associated with Bitbucket/CircleCI to your Gravatar account and select an avatar picture.
