How Do I Connect My GitHub and Bitbucket Accounts on CircleCI?

Overview

If you have already signed up to CircleCI with one of your VCS accounts, or have linked them to another account, then you will be unable to link them immediately.

You will see the following error message "We encountered a problem - Error adding identity ... The identity provided by your VCS service is already associated with a different account. Please try logging in using that account or contact us for further help." You can resolve this issue by following the steps listed here. 

To connect your GitHub and Bitbucket accounts on CircleCI:

1. Log in with your primary account (e.g. GitHub)
2. Click your avatar icon (bottom-left of the CircleCI UI) or go to https://app.circleci.com/settings/user 

On the next screen, click the "Connect" button:

• If you are not already logged into your secondary VCS account, you'll be redirected to the VCS website to authenticate and authorize CircleCI.
• If you are already logged into your secondary VCS account, it will be added to your existing CircleCI account.

Once this is done, the "organization picker" will also list the organizations available to the secondary VCS account.

Next to each organization's name you'll see either a GH or BB badge indicating whether an organization is associated with GitHub or Bitbucket.
