Windows Support for Self-Hosted Runners

When making use of Windows on your self-hosted runners, it's important to be aware of which versions are supported by CircleCI.

This guide will go through the specifics of what is and isn't supported.

As a general rule, a summary of supported Windows versions will be located at the top of our installation article.

Windows Server

Installing self-hosted runners on the three most recent versions of Windows Server is fully supported in Datacenter Edition and eligible for CircleCI support and bug fixes.

Windows Desktop

Windows Desktop editions (such as Windows 10 & 11) are not currently supported.

While they typically will work, we cannot guarantee guidance or assistance in resolving issues relating to runners on these Windows versions.

Additionally, we cannot guarantee bug fixes for any issues relating to these versions of Windows.

By design, Windows desktop versions are not intended for unattended use of machines shared by multiple people. Please refer to the Microsoft terms for additional details. As such, CircleCI cannot guarantee that your use will not violate license terms.
