What you can see in Insights and which workflows appear

Insights shows time-series and summary data about the health and usage of your projects. This article explains what you can see at each level of Insights and which workflow runs are included in that data.

What you can see in Insights

Organization level

Select Insights in the sidebar to see metrics for all projects in your organization. You can choose a time range of 24 hours, 7, 30, 60, or 90 days. The metrics are:

  • Workflow runs

  • Total workflow duration

  • Credits consumed

  • Overall success rate

Use the project filter to narrow the data to one project, or select a project from the list to go deeper.

Project level

The project page lists the workflows and branches that Insights has data for. The totals at the top follow the branch or branches you select in the branch filter, so they can differ from the totals on the organization page.

Workflow level

Select a workflow to open its overview. The overview charts data over time for all branches or for a single branch:

  • Status (success or failed) of up to the 100 most recent workflow runs

  • Success rate

  • Duration

  • Credits used

Job level

Select the Jobs tab next to Overview to see totals per job for the selected workflow:

  • Total credits used

  • Duration

  • Total runs

  • Success rate

Test level

Select the Tests tab to see test results from your most recent runs, including flaky, failing, and slow tests. Test Insights is available for github and bitbucket type organizations and needs test results to be uploaded from your jobs.

Trends

On the 24-hour, 7-day, and 30-day views, Insights compares each metric with the previous period of the same length so you can see whether it is going up or down.

Which workflows appear

A workflow run is included in Insights when all of the following are true.

  • It was started from a branch. The pipeline has a branch, such as a push to main, a scheduled pipeline on main, or an API-triggered pipeline that specifies a branch.

  • It started inside the selected time window. Insights keeps up to 90 days of data.

  • It belongs to the branch you are viewing. The workflow page and the API show one branch at a time. Choose All branches in the web app, or use all-branches=true in the API, to see every branch together. If you do not pass a branch to the API, it returns data for the project's default branch.

  • The workflow has at least one finished run in the window. A finished run is one that succeeded, failed, or was canceled. A workflow appears in the list once it has a finished run. Runs that are still running or on hold are not shown in the run list or charts.

  • It has the same workflow name. Insights groups runs by workflow name within a project. If you rename a workflow, runs under the new name appear separately from runs under the old name.
